Decorating tips and ideas to create an illusion of a larger space for a small room
When you live in a house that is cramped for space that you only use one room to watch TV, entertain friends, work on your laptop and more, it can be a real challenge to decorate the room to make it welcoming and relaxing but still functional.

These are the common decorating challenges that are encountered by those who live in a condominium. They have to make do with the available space that they have while creating a home that still feels warm and provides a relaxing atmosphere.

Thankfully, there are workarounds and home decorating tips that one can follow to make an illusion of a big room for a small space. To achieve this, the room must be decorated with furniture and decorating pieces that can trick the eyes.
1. Furniture. One can maximize the limited space in their condominium unit or bachelor pad by using furniture that serves multiple purposes. One type of furniture that serves this purpose is a sleeper sofa.
TheRoomPlace.com furniture line has a lot of these sleeper sofas that can serve as a sofa by day and a bed by night. This definitely can help save space rather than having two furniture pieces in a small room.
Here are some of the sleeper sofas that you can find:

  • Gavin Queen Sleeper Sofa in Red. This is a very comfortable sleeper sofa with pillow-topped seats and arms, lower lumbar cushions and no-sag springs. It also has a Queen sized mattress for a good night sleep.

  • Confetti Queen sleeper sofa. If you want to go for the traditional style and classic look, then this sleeper sofa is the perfect pick for your space. It uses a chenille fabric with pleated roll arms and exposed carved wooden trim for added details.

2. Color and Accessories. When choosing for the color of the wall, use the same color as the furnishings at it makes the room look larger. Also using the same color and material for the floor and wall across all rooms makes the room feel more spacious.

Accessories like mirrors and glass that reflect light can be hanged on the wall to give an illusion of space.
One can make a small room look cozy and stylish by simply following some of the decorating ideas mentioned above.

Making It Work With Small Spaces

Your home, even if it’s small, can still be stylish, functional and homey. Sure, you would not be able to get a cpu cart in the living room, but they should not be there in the first place – they should be in hospitals. Here are some tips:

Mirrors are an old and good trick for making a space seem larger. I always place mirrors across from the main light source in a room, usually the window, so they reflect the light and also make the space brighter.

A Dream Closet

closet organization

I recently cleaned up my children’s closets to get rid of old clothes to make way for the inevitable new ones coming this holiday season. And I realized one thing: We need more closets. Even if I have gotten rid of more than half of what they already have, there still isn’t so much space. I need to make sure that I get to organize everything before December 1st because I promise the tree will be up by Thanksgiving (which is a few days away). As soon I finish writing eyelash growth product reviews I can finally go and focus on these things.

Hideaway Storage Ideas

I have been thinking of getting digital antennas for our house since we do not get a lot of signal for our cellphones, cable or even wifi internet. A lot of stuff has in my mind as well because of too much clutter in my house. I think I need to try these hideaway storage ideas:

You’d be amazed at how much wasted space lies underneath a staircase. Make the most of it with these pull-out closets.

Store your clothes under the bed and even under the floorboards.

No extra room for an office? No problem. Turn a closet into an office.

You can’t really hide it away, but you might not know it’s there unless you look up!

Who wouldn’t want one for their stairs? And who doesn’t NEED more storage at home? :)

Kid’s Play Activity Wall

One of my biggest challenges is to control clutter in our house, especially with two kids around. Everyday, I throw things in the trash can only to realize that somehow more than ten things have since added up. I do not even know where to put the zumba playstation my husband is seriously considering buying already.

Somehow, when I have babies again, I would likely try and do this to a wall. It will surely help them be occupied for awhile and at the same time let them learn their alphabet early.

Family Rooms

I have been looking at some inspiration on some family rooms because I have kids sharing one room and want to have some order in their room without sacrificing design. It doesn’t help that I have a boy and girl so I can’t go all out masculine or feminine. Of course, my daughter isn’t exactly as feminine as she is because she wants to be an equestrian and wear breeches!

Inspiring Workspaces

I will never stop dreaming of an inspiring work station or room of my own. I know I can be as tidy as I can and hone a perfect document management system for my own but I know without the much-needed space and furniture, I would not be satisfied with my own corner.

For now, I would be content just piling inspiration on work station spaces:

Having enough space in your home for everyone can get tricky when you have more than one child. It is a good thing that bunk beds are a great way to utilize more space in your children’s bedrooms.

They offer a fun way for kids who share a room to have their own bed while helping parents to maintain their budget and work within a limited space. Bunk beds are a great option for anyone looking for a little more room. They are available with different storage options and in many different styles, sizes, and colors.

The most popular type of bunk bed is the twin over twin but there are different varieties too: twin over full, full over full, twin over pull with a futon pull-out. Having them in different size varieties give families a chance to choose their beds according to their needs and the available space they have.

Among the many types of Bunk beds for sale, the Wood bunk bed is the most preferred. Recently, Bunk beds for sale started offering storage options and trundle beds with their newer models. They also started bringing them out in different, child-friendly colors.

Making your children’s room comfortable and efficient can be difficult when space is limited. Considering a bunk bed can help you to add floor space as well as storage while also giving your children their own personal bed and space.

Beds for Small Spaces

Space is always a challenge. And placing beds in small spaces a greater challenge, especially if you more than one kid. The least of your concerns would be where to place the television stands but how you can fit a bed which can hold more than one person in such a small space.

Thankfully, we now have bunk beds, loft beds and trundle beds. And great ideas from the internet!

BoConcept: This contemporary chain store has several storage beds, including the $995 Limo Bed (shown above), a platform with built-in drawers.

loft bed

Room & Board: Their popular Loft Bed starts at $700 and is now available in 8 colors. Although they market it as a kid’s bed, it’s large enough for an adult and could work well as a guest or studio bed.

IKEA: At $350, their Mandal Bed Frame with Drawers is the least expensive option on this list. It’s not heirloom furniture, but it’s affordable and modern.
