An Atelier Garden Office
What makes an Atelier garden office different?
Their garden office studio is differently made to connect its owner to the environment that is different from a log cabin or a summer house.
Their garden office studio offers wall windows to enhance as much natural light to enter without giving the occupants away. They maintain privacy by offering as high level glazing to its structures.
Their defining design principle is the curve. An Atelier garden office studio has curves which is both sleek and functional at the same time. As you can see from the pictures below, Atelier garden offices are attractive in any angle.
Their garden office is the great fusion of modularity and customization. You can have both if you have yours built through Atelier.
An Atelier garden office is made of naturally sustainable materials making them eco-friendly contemporary buildings. And yet it can house the most state-of-the art equipment you need to make working in it as comfortable as possible – under floor heating, running water, electricity generating solar panels and broadband.
Why should you consider investing on a garden office?
Working from home can be challenging. It is hard to stay focused when you hear the constant noise of television or get called a lot by your children. Striking a balance between work and play when all you have for an environment is a home is hard. This is why having an office at your home, apart yet still a part of home will give you and your children lines and boundaries. It gives you the schedule you need and makes you feel like you are working – privacy and focus will be easier to achieve. It will also give your kids the signal that you would need to work and they should not disturb you. Yet it is close enough for you to go home , rest and check up on the family if needed.
And you do not have to just confine it as being an office. It can be as versatile as you want it to be. It gives you extra living space. From gyms to art rooms, playrooms to excellent guest accommodation, this multipurpose space is adaptable and flexible over time.
They even add immense value to your property. Yet they are more cost-effective than an home extension because it can be built without having to reconstruct or renovate any part of the main house.
Wood Boilers and an Indoor Wood Furnace: An Efficient and Economical Home Heating System
With gas prices skyrocketing all over the world, electricity bills are following suit, with electric companies primarily using fuel to produce electricity. It is hard to be able to maintain heat in the middle of winter without having to worry about the electricity bill at the end of the month.
This is why there is a growing trend of using wood furnaces as a main heating system for houses. An Indoor wood furnace is one of the most efficient heating devices you can use.
Here are the reasons:
1. Their source of fuel is wood, which a natural and renewable product.
2. Burning wood does not release toxic fumes. It is a green renewable resource.
3. It has three categories or varieties which are meant to serve different purposes: a central system, multi-fuel and outdoor.
A Wood boiler is an improved version of the traditional wood stove and is also an efficient home heating system you can. Designed to burn cleanly, with a minimum of creosote build-up, a boiler can be loaded with enough wood to burn for hours without having to replenish the wood supply. The boiler, which can be located inside or outside the home, heats water which can be used in hot water heating systems and, combined with a hot water storage system, can be stored for long periods of time (from seven to ten days) between firings. The empyre brand of wood boilers is a popular choice. The newer technology of wood burning boiler systems allows you to place the system up to 500 feet away from the location that you are heating. In addition, you can heat other buildings as well with this one system, such as garages, barns, sheds, work areas and greenhouses.
Switching to wood furnaces as a heating system for the home would be an economical, greener and healthier way of keeping your household warm.
Green Cleaning
Whenever we do some purging and decluttering in the house, it is always easy to forget about trying to help conserve the environment. Remember every little thing counts in helping save our Mother Earth! Whether you are purging your make-up closet and throwing away anti wrinkle eye cream which is past its expiration date, remember that little bottle especially if its plastic, can be recycled. The key here is to be patient and segregate garbage. It will go a long way.
* Recycle all paper products
* Donate clothes to Goodwill
* Purchase recycled garbage bags
* Recycle electronic products
* Pick up used boxes from retail stores
* Use eco-friendly cleaning supplies
* Utilize plastic grocery bags in place of garbage bags whenever possible
* Donate smaller household items to a local shelter
Rain Barrels and Rain Harvesting
Times are changing. We are now feeling the effects of climate change and global warming. It is not too late to do our share in saving what is left in our environment.
One of the things we can do is to save water. Water is such an essential part of our daily lives that it would be too much to bear when it runs out too. How can we conserve water? Aside from the usual things like turning off faucets when not in use and checking pipes for leaks, you can get a rain barrel for your home.
These rain water barrels are one of the ways to minimize the effects of drought and water crisis. Even in ancient times when drought and water crisis are not yet as prevalent as they are in these times, collecting rainwater is already a practice. You can call it rain harvesting too.
So the next time it rains, barrels may be used to store rain water which can be utilized in watering the plants, washing the car and other home chores. While custom made water barrels are expensive, low cost design rain barrels for sale are available in the market. They can be recycled food storage and transport barrels or wine aging barrels.
Fun in Paper Bags
I have a friend who used to tell me that paper should not be wasted. She believes that we should recycle and reuse paper to help our environment. It made me think of different ways on how to reuse paper and this led me to some creative ideas.
I have thought of making paper bags out of used papers. With my friend’s help, we gathered all the used papers in my house and glued some of it together to make it bigger. We folded it and shaped it like a bag then we attached colorful ribbons on it to be used as a handle. Since my friend and I are both artists, we painted the bags with almost anything that came to our minds. We were able to make almost ten colorful paper bags in just one day!
I have never thought that recycling paper can be so much fun! I am planning to encourage my family and friends in doing this because this would also help them get rid of their used papers at home in a more productive way.
We can now use these as shopping bags
Tips in Buying Used Folding Bikes
If you’re a little short on budget but are still determined to get a foldable bike, you might want to consider buying used folding bikes. However, because used bikes are a bit risky, you should be careful in choosing the right unit for yourself. Here are some tips that might just help.
Inspect the frame
Before you buy one, inspect the frame of the bike closely. Folding bikes are prone to wear and tear especially around the hinges and the wheels. This is because the hinges and the wheels are the moving parts of the bike when in folded configuration.
Unfortunately, some people force their bikes into very small spaces thereby straining the hinges and forcing the wheels to hit the frame. Others simply let the folded bike hang loosely allowing the parts to scrape each other when the wind blows on the bike. Don’t buy a bike that has extensive damage around these areas.
Check the alignment
There are folding bicycles that show some deformity as a result of being kept in storage for too long. To make sure you’re buying a folding bike in good condition, check the alignment of the frame and the wheels. If they are still good, then that means that the folding bike was regularly unfolded.
Making Your Own Compost
Here’s what you can include in your compost:
1. Kitchen scraps such as vegetable and fruit peelings, dried eggshells, tea bags, coffee grounds. If your fruits or veggies went bad before they were eaten, the compost bin is a perfect place for them.
2. Household items such as shredded newspapers and dryer lint can go into the compost bin, too.
3. Lawn clippings, leaves, dead plants, bark, wood chips, straw, and/or hay are important ingredients in your compost.
4. Manure from grass-eating (herbivore) animals, such as chickens, horses, and cows. (This is not necessary; however, if you can find a farmer or someone with horses that will let you haul away some manure, it will be wonderfully beneficial to your plants!)
Do not put these things into your compost:
• Bones, meat, wood ash, pet waste, fat, or dairy.
• Also, stay away from weeds – they might be ready to seed, in which case they could grow into new weeds.
