A guide and some tips on how to clean your home water filtration system.

Nowadays, home water filtration systems are essential in having access to clean, healthy, and safe water. It is important to make sure that the water that we use is free from bacteria and toxins that are harmful to our health.

Because of the high need for clean, healthy, and safe water, many households install home water filtration systems. These filtration systems can ensure that your water free from odors, sediments, bacteria, toxins, chlorine, and other harmful substances. You can choose from a wide selection of home water filtration systems from ClarityWaterProducts.com which also sells various hot tub supplies.

However, having a whole house water filtration system does not mean that there is nothing left for you to do after its installation. Maintaining your home water filtration system by cleaning it regularly will also ensure that you keep it running in its optimal condition and that you lengthen its life as much as possible. Below is a guide to help you clean your home water filtration system.

1.       Carefully remove the water filter. Remove the water filter from the filtration system. Make sure that you read the manufacturer’s manual on how to dismantle the parts before doing anything.

2.       Clean the water filter by spraying. With the use of a high pressure hose, try to spray the debris loose from the water filter. Spend more time spraying on areas with heavy dirt such as rust and calcium buildup.

3.       Soak the filter in muriatic solution. Make a muriatic solution by mixing 2 cups of muriatic acid into a bucket of water. Use a long plastic stirrer to mix the solution then submerge the water filter in this solution for five days.

4.       Rinse the filter. Fill another bucket with clean water. Remove the water filter from the muriatic solution and then submerge it into the bucket of clean water for a minimum of five minutes.

5.       Rinse by spraying. Remove the water filter from the bucket of clean water and then rinse it again with a high pressure hose.

6.       Reinstall the water filter. You may now reinstall the water filter into your home water filtration system. Make sure to consult the manufacturer’s manual carefully on how to reassemble it.

Before doing anything to your home water filtration system, make sure you read the manufacturer’s manual carefully regarding what you can and cannot do to your system. Although regular cleaning is advisable, there will come a time in the life of your home water filtration system when you will need to replace the water filter instead of just cleaning it. It is also good to check which other parts need replacement and when they need to be replaced. All of these are necessary if you want to make the best use of your home water filtration system.

Types of Faucets

If you are looking to replace your faucet, here is information on the different types that you might want to check out first before buying the replacement.

Compression

This is the most common type of faucet. They require the user to compress or tighten down on the knob to close off the water flow. Their most common problem is the wearing down of the washer.

Ball

Identified by a single handle that moves over a ball-shaped cap above the base of the faucet spout, these faucets don’t use a washer but they tend to leak because of the number of parts that make up the device.

Disc

Instead of having a ball shaped cap, disc faucets have a wide cylindrical body. They use 2 discs that slide past each other to allow or close off the water flow instead of a washer. They are the most reliable faucets.

Cartridge

These can come in single or double handles. Single levers look like ball types while double levers look similar to compression types. They use a movable stem cartridge to control water flow. They don’t use washers but they also tend to leak.
