Sound Room

I have friend whose kids are now teenagers. She has three boys and all of them are into music and have formed a band. In fact, the kids have a complete set of musical instruments from gl guitars to drum sets!

The next house project they will be tackling is to create a sound room. They usually play music at wee hours of the day so they want to make sure they would not be disturbing the peace :)

Swimming Pool Bedroom

Would you ever want a swimming pool bedroom? I discovered this room over at Pinterest the other day and wondered where the swimming pool pumps are installed. It can be quite scary especially when you are drunk or flail around when you sleep though. But this is a seriously cool idea for a room – made for avant-garde and risky people especially bachelors and those who love the water!

Colorful Walls – White Beddings

Posted by admin On December - 7 - 2011 0 Comment

I have never hidden the fact that I love white beddings, as much as I love reading books from an ebook reader. I just cannot splurge on white linens this time because I still have kids under 10 which can really ruin a pristine white bed by jumping into it upon arriving from school (this has happened more than once).

Have you ever thought about having white linens with colored walls though? It makes for a great and interesting room! Take a look!

Decorating a bedroom can be intimidating. Bedding is expensive, and matching it to paint, rugs, and curtains is often overwhelming. A quick fix? Pick a gorgeous color for the walls, grab some all-white bedding, and consider it done (but still stylish).

If you are looking into cutesy bedroom themes for your kids, I saw three models online and would be sharing them to you. I know that there are life insurance types I need to study and look at but these are just too cute not to blog about! I would definitely love a themed room when I have babies in the future.

Which one is your favorite?
Mine’s the Cinderella-themed room the best, of course :)

Rooms With Sloped Ceilings

I have always loved attic rooms – and then I found out that you can have sloped ceilings in any room if you wanted too. Of course decorating them would be a challenge but take inspiration from these beautiful rooms.

Special mention goes to this gorgeous bathroom. Notice how windows are inserted into the sloped ceiling to allow more natural light to come in. Imagine bathing with your salt scrubs in that gorgeous bathroom – I definitely can stay there for hours!

Whether it’s in a bedroom, living room, kitchen, or work space, a sloped ceiling can be made into a positive feature with the right paint, shelves, or furniture.

What to Do With Spare Rooms

Posted by admin On July - 8 - 2011 0 Comment

If you are lucky enough to have a spare room at home, it is a wise idea to keep it as neat and as presentable as possible just in case you would need to entertain guests overnight. You can always convert it to an office if you work from home, a reading room or a spare closet but you need to be ready just in case it needs to be used.

Take a look at these gorgeous white rooms (spare rooms) I saw from Decorology:

You do not need to decorate a spare room, as seen above. In fact, you can skip embellishments and decorations and make sure it has a bed, neat linens and is tidy! One would not need steiner binoculars to see that even if these spare rooms are used sparingly (pun intended), it has been kept dust and clutter-free.

I have two kids – a boy and girl – and they share a room. I have been looking for ways to make their room as personal as possible without it being too boyish nor girly and these pictures provided a wealth of inspiration. I learned that when decorating a his and hers bedroom, sticking to a neutral color palette would be my best bet.

Here is an example of a bedroom with a baby girl and an older brother. Her crib was situated in a former closet.

These beds are neither too girly nor boyish thanks to the red and blue color palette. It has its own singular theme though.

I can imagine this will work with my kids. They are a bit older and have different tastes. In this room, spaces were clearly defined by colors, even with different themes. And somehow, the interior design still works.

Who would not want to have a Pottery Barn room for their children? I am an advocate of loft beds, bunk beds and trundle beds because I want space to be utilized and maximized accordingly. And Pottery Barn just does it with flair, do they?

Here is a tiered/loft room. This image from Real Living would surely make kids excited as this looks like more of a playhouse than a room. I would prefer to have this for older children who are safe to climb beds.

For tweeners who share a room, they can get quite territorial and would demand their own space. If moving them into their own room is impossible even if you can get a Cash Advance loan to convert a room, here are some tips:

Partition a bedroom and create a boundary by using:

* A Japanese rice paper screen
* A wood veneer partition, like those used for office cubicles
* Wooden blinds or fabric shades that draw up to the ceiling

Liz Howard, an interior designer, gives her advice in the oncala.com article, “If you block line of sight, you give a sense of privacy even if there is someone else just inches away.”

Bedside tables can often be considered the personal space of a couple in their shared master’s bedroom. This why they often have a preferred table lamp, depending on their taste and their need for light when they are reading or working at night.

One can easily change colors and even styles when it comes to table lamps. There is no limit to how you can coordinate the designs and if done well, they can transform an otherwise mundane interior into a vibrant and stylish one.

Here are some styles:

The modern table lamps are for those of you who have artsy looking type of rooms. These lamps have funky looking designs that make it seem like you are some place in the future.

Oriental lamps generally come from countries in Asia, and have that Asian culture look to them. These are often associated with pieces of history (antiques).

The urban style of lamps are what you usually see in suburban cities.

Country style theme lamps have a look with farm animals designed on them like, roosters, cows, and other popular farm animals. They have the homey feeling often seen in rustic cottage type homes.
